solutions
Status can be used display real time data from OPC DA, OPC UA, OPC HDA, OPC AE, and OPC XAML DA Servers. Solutions from Status can be run in Windows XP, Windows Vista or from a Web Browser using Microsoft Silverlight. Status can connect to your OPC DA Data without the need for DCOM on the client, and can be extended to support other data sources in addition to OPC.

connectivity
Status has built-in connectivity to real time OPC (Open Process Control) data and can very easily be extended to connect to other types of data. The ability to connect to a variety of OPC servers means that Status can connect to dozens of world class software products and display real-time data from hundreds of data sources.

portability
Projects published from Status can be viewed in Windows XP or Windows Vista using the Status Client. Projects can also be published directly to Silverlight Web Applications producing real time visualization from a variety of web browsers or platforms.

extensibility
Status uses Microsoft Visual Studio C# and Visual Basic projects as its project format. Projects developed in Status can be extended in Visual Studio 2008 using the full power of .NET and maintain their compatibility with Status. The Status Designer has an extensive object model allowing the design environment to be customized and extended by writing simple .NET plug-ins. Status uses the XML based XAML (Extensible Application Markup Language) markup language by Microsoft for screen definitions. This means the screens are human readable, portable, can be easily generated, and conform to an industry standard.

graphics and resources
Status resources include hundreds of pieces of XAML-based clip-art with many targeted for various industries including manufacturing. Status uses all of the primary .NET controls used in Windows development and includes over 70 custom .NET 3.5 and Silverlight controls including Buttons, Gauges, Indicators, LED Displays, Linear Gauges, Motors and Fans, Pipes, Rotary, Sliders, and Tanks. All controls can be bound to real time-data.

Trending
The Trend control in Status captures and displays live, dynamically updated real-time data, as well as the indexed historical data, in a Line Chart format. Trend controls functionality includes the ability to zoom in/out to arbitrary ranges within the data, support for live and real-time data point manipulation, and scrubbing through the available data history. Designers can choose a shape (from a predefined list) and fill to be used to mark plotted points of data. The Trend control is available for both Windows and Silverlight based projects generated from Status.

language switching
The language switching feature in Status allows a designer to configure different languages to be displayed for any given control.  The end user will then be able to select a language on a published screen and have the controls on that screen update with the selected language. Language switching can be used in Silverlight and WPF.

OPC DA Redundancy
The OPC DA data source includes an optional feature for fail-over redundancy. When the primary data source becomes unresponsive the current data source will switch to, and begin receiving data from, the backup data source. The application will continue to poll the failed primary data source. If the primary recovers, the current data source can switch back to the primary and close the connection to the backup.

alarming
By integrating Alarming into Status Vision Designer users can monitor alarms and events occurring in real-time on the factory floor then acknowledge them for process audit purposes. Each user can customize the configuration settings in the Alarm Control to meet their specific needs, making it relevant to their job role or environment.  Alarming Control is implemented as a plug-in with a runtime component and can be used in WPF.  Applies to OPC-DA and AE only.

Alarming control can be configured to:
  • Connect to Local or network servers
  • Receive a variety of update rate types:  dead-band, polling, etc.
  • Select Condition Filtering parameters
  • Receive notifications from a single or multiple alarming servers
  • Acknowledge Alarms using All, Select Multiple or Select Single
  • Display all Alarms or only those requiring Acknowledgement

status server
The Status Server is a web service that hosts the connection to data sources used by Silverlight web applications or Windows applications created using the Status designer. The server will move the updated data to and from the remote data source at the client and the corresponding data source hosted by the Data Source Server. A single copy of the Status Server is installed with each copy of the Status Vision Designer.

SMS and Email alarming
Status Server also has the ability to create custom alarms and events based on any data tag that is presented by an OPC server. These alarms are then served in real time to either a Windows or Silverlight application for user consumption via a Status Data Source.  These alarms can be configured to send either email or SMS alerts to users.

Calculation Server
Using the Calculation Engine in Status Management Console, you can configure certain data tags so that they are converted using either a predefined formula, or a custom user created formula. Status Server takes the data tag specified, runs a calculation against it, and then serves the calculated value as a data tag that is available in real time to either a Windows or Silverlight application for consumption.

status client - OPC AE, DA, HDA, XML-DA (UA is currently under development)
Windows applications developed using Status Vision Designer must be loaded and run in the Status Client in order to be deployed to the end users. Status Client is provided the location of the .NET assembly via the configuration tool then loads the default screen containing the user-interface controls with corresponding bindings. The screen then displays continually updated data for the control bindings that have been defined. With just a few mouse clicks and field entries your end users will be able to easily define and monitor information critical to your company. A copy of the Status Client is installed with each copy of the Status Designer to allow the designer to test run programs created with Status.

scheduling
The scheduling feature is an easy to use configuration tool that allows a user to schedule screens contained in their project to display at predefined intervals.  Use this feature to monitor multiple levels of a factory, cycle through corporate information for employees, or in digital signage applications for retail or trade show environments.

The scheduling feature makes it easy to:
  • Selectively cycle an unlimited number of screens within a project
  • Choose your own Start and End screens
  • Easily change the screen display sequence
  • Set all screens to display for the same duration, or set different display durations for each screen
System Requirements
Prior to running Status Vision Designer or Status Client, you will need to have Windows XP (Service Pack 2 or higher), Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 3 or higher) or Windows Vista with .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 or higher runtime components installed on the machine. Status currently runs on a 32 bit system platform.

If you are accessing OPC DA or XML-DA Data sources you may need to install the OPC Core components from the OPC Foundation. The install for these components can be found at Start-> Program Files->Mobiform Software->Status Vision Designer.

If you are developing Silverlight Applications, you will need to install the Silverlight 3.x Software Development Kit from Microsoft. This can be found at http://www.silverlight.net/GetStarted/
